About IDA

Introduction to Islāmic Da‘wah Academy

The Islāmic Da’wah Academy, commonly known as the IDA, was founded to facilitate a greater understanding and awareness of the teachings of Islam. It aims to educate people from all walks of life, and especially young Muslims, in all aspects of their religious development. Since its inception in 1991, the IDA has grown into an internationally recognised institute of academic excellence and religious revival. Under the guidance of its founder, the respected scholar and lecturer, Shaykh Mawlānā Muhammad Saleem Dhorat hafizahullāh, the IDA has continued to progress to achieve its aim of helping to create the Muslims of tomorrow.

At present the IDA provides a multifaceted service catering for the diverse and unique needs of Muslims living in the west. Throughout the years, the IDA has targeted its activities primarily at the Muslim youth, who traditionally lacked access to Islamic services. Via its various projects and schemes the IDA continues to strive to help the new generation of Muslims channel their energies and capabilities appropriately; enabling young people to become individuals who are assets for society as a whole. The responses received from the IDA’s various beneficiaries and the endorsement of the IDA’s work by leading scholars of the Islamic world is, alhamdulillāh, a sign that facilities such as the IDA’s are an essential contribution to current Islamic services.

Annual Youth Conference

The Annual Youth Conference was initiated to help spread the teachings of Islam on a national scale. The conference has grown from strength to strength, attracting people from all over the UK. Lectures focus on the need to become better Muslims and therefore better citizens and members of society.

Preparatory Course for Hajj

Hajj, the sacred pilgrimage, is the fifth pillar of Islam. It is a duty which many Muslims only get the opportunity to fulfil once in a lifetime. Thus, many prospective pilgrims are anxious that this important worship be completed properly. To meet these concerns, the IDA annually coordinates a comprehensive guidance course for intending pilgrims prior to the Hajj season. The most respected Shaykh has been conducting this popular course since it was initiated in 1995.

The five day course (delivered in Urdu with a simultaneous English translation) discusses the essential rites of Hajj and is accompanied by a daily question and answer session. A two day abridged version of the course in English is also organised every year.

The “How To Perform” series of booklets are a useful compliment to the course and detail the main content of the lecture material in a simple, easy to read format. Recordings of the course and copies of the how to perform series are available to order and purchase.
